May 22, 2009

US (ChattahBox) – The Senate has officially passed a $91 billion dollar bill to go towards war efforts in Afghanistan.

President Obama has long since stated that he would be sending more troops and funds to Afghanistan in an effort to end the war there, and this morning he delivered on that promise as the Senate approved a $91.3 billion dollar spending bill, which will be given in addition to the 20,000 troop surge.

The new funding will make the money spent of Afghanistan surpass that of Iraq, and the troop level will move up to nearly 70,000.

The bill passed 86-3, for an overwhelming majority.
