New Book Details President Kennedy’s Affair With Teenaged Intern

May 23, 2009

US (ChattahBox) – The woman who was exposed several years ago as having had an affair with former President John F. Kennedy has finally ended her silence in a memoir, which will be published by Random House.

The book, ‘Once Upon A Secret’, described the trials of having chosen to live with a secret like this, and especially the consequences after the affair was exposed in the biography, ‘An Unfinished Life: John F. Kennedy 1917-1963’, by Robert Dallek.

Mimi Beardsley Alford began her affair with President Kennedy shortly after joining the White House as an intern, at the age of nineteen. It continued on for 18-months.

“The story has three acts to it: before the White House, during the White House, and then the really powerful part is what happens afterward,” Susan Mercandetti, the senior editor at Random House, told the New York Times.

“What’s the impact on your family life, your marriage, knowing that this happened to you in your early life and you have chosen to keep it a secret.”

No publication date has been set.
