Georgia Rep Proposes New Laws That Eliminate Birthright Citizenship

May 26, 2009

US (ChattahBox) – According to some US Representatives being born in the United States shouldn’t give you the right to be a citizen.

Rep. Nathan Deal (R-Georgia) has come forward with a proposed bill that would eliminate the 14th Amendment, which states that anyone born on U.S. soil are automatically citizens.

According to Deal, just being born somewhere shouldn’t make you a valid member of any country, which has led many to question what Deal believes ‘citizen’ means.

Immigration groups all over the country have spoken out against this measure, which the Georgia Representative has stated that “closes a clause that was never meant to be a loophole”, which he claims encourages illegal immigration.

While the proposal will go before the House, it is unlikely to gain enough support to pass as a law.

Well, he *is* a Republican. I’m expecting them to try to repeal the First through Tenth Amendments, as well. After all, those pesky poor people shouldn’t be allowed to talk about whtever they like, or defend themselves against tyrants, should they?
