There really is no absolute freedom when we prosecute people for smoking marijuana. We should be entitled to such freedom. Ignorance is to choose to ignore the benefits of such a resourceful product, anywhere from fabrics, paper, oil,fuel etc. Of course medical & recreational. Handle it like alcohol. Prisons should be for serious violators of the law, not for people who smoke pot. No wonder our jails are over crowded. And we ultimately pay for their stay. We dont throw people in jails for drinking in a bar. Pot smokers deserve a safe haven so they can smoke somewhere besides the street corners. Besides our country was based on Hemp so why do we have to sweep it under the carpet. Liberate Cannabis for America aswell.

I dont even smoke, but I say legalize it. End the violence behind the black market.

BTW, pot should never be in the same conversation as cocaine or meth. Pot’s a gateway drug just as giving kids donuts is a gateway to fat American kids.

all i want to say is compare the numbers…how many deaths do we have in the united states every year from tabacco products and alcohol products?. wich by the way are legal and perfectly normal for some one to buy and consume. now how many deaths has there ever been by using weed?..NONE!!!!!!..thats all i want to say..

From one who works in the criminal justice industry it only makes sense to legalize, regulate, and tax. I for one am tire of having to deal with the lies of the past and the people who think they should be able to tell everyone what is right or wrong. In the end there will be just one Judge and I for one do not want to stand before him and state that I did not stand against the cruel and unusual punishment that we have done to individual in this county for smoking a little weed. Hell I use to do it and it is nothing like what the critics say. If Obama was truthful then he would come out and say the same thing. He knows the truth he inhaled that was the point! He forgot we the people, I think he is overqualified for the job, so lets get Ron Paul in there next round! Then maybe it won’t be illegal and I can come out and say “I smoke hemp”!

John Smith – That’s ridiculous. Marijuana legalization has garnered more than half of the country’s support for the first time in history. Surveys of the nation show that with a falling economy, rising cartel violence, and limited prison space the benefits of legalization far outnumber the ‘risks’.

It is because of the greater issues facing this country that could be effected in a positive way by marijuana becoming a legal substance that this is such a popular issue. Not because a few dozen college kids like to get high between Liberal Arts classes.

I bet someone hacked the online poll. Its relatively easy to fake votes for this type of online poll. Some creative college students probably sent it an extra few million votes in favor of their top concern.

17 people are murdered every *day* as a direct result of the prohibition. Last year the cartels murdered more than 6,000 people in order to secure their marijuana profits from the U.S. So far this year they killed another 2,600. The American people don’t deserve to have these deaths on their conscience!

We need to talk to our legislators today. Tell them to legalize the production and sale of marijuana to adults. Seventy years of prohibition has not reduced marijuana use. Legalize!
