Craigslist Linked to Gruesome Murder of Pregnant Woman, Death of Baby

June 8, 2009

(ChattahBox—A horrific murder uncovered in Beaverton, Oregon has left a mother mourning the loss of both her daughter and grandson and a young expectant father grieving for his pregnant girlfriend and son, whom the couple planned to name John Steven. Police charged Korena Elaine Roberts, 27-years old, with the murder of Heather M. Snively, 21-years old, who was 8-months pregnant, and she is also facing charges for the death of Snively’s baby, police say.

In a shocking crime with no apparent motive, Korena Elaine Roberts allegedly killed the pregnant Snively and then called police for help when Snively’s baby stopped breathing. When police arrived at her Beaverton home, Roberts claimed she had just given birth to the baby. The baby later died at the hospital.

When hospital authorities alerted the police that Roberts had not recently given birth, police conducted a search of her home and discovered the body of Snively stuffed in a crawl space, her baby boy missing from her womb.

Christopher Popp, the baby’s father and Snively’s boyfriend, reported her missing on Friday.

In a bizarre twist to the crime, Snively met Roberts through Craigslist, when searching for used baby clothes, according to her mother, Heidi Kidd of West Virginia. Roberts befriended the trusting young mother and may have arranged a meeting.

It’s not yet been reported if Roberts killed Snively after she gave birth or if she died after Roberts removed her son from Snively’s belly.

Roberts has two young children of her own, who were staying with relatives when Snively was murdered.

The official autopsy results are expected on Monday.

Oh…my….god. How absolutely horrifying. Just when you think advances in technology are a good thing, psychotic jerks like this have to put a negative spin on things. I hope this woman gets life in prison. Unbelievable.
