We use public domain photographs to best depict the spirit of a story, as we can offer without violating any copyright. Other photos that are not public domain are only used with heavy sourcing. But in the end the photo in a story is usually a minimum enhancement, nothing more. In other words, no, we probably won't be putting up a picture of real California medical marijuana unless we do a story about the differences in the look. We are here for two reasons: 1) to report certain news stories from all over the world, and 2) to provide commentary on some of those stories. It appears to be some illegal Mexican rag weed. I would never have allowed such low grade marijuana as this photo depicts to be available in my dispensary.
