Pat Buchanan: Sotomayor, Latina With “Lifelong Resolve to Discriminate Against White Males”
July 15, 2009
(ChattahBox)—Pat Buchanan wrote a piece in the right-wing publication, Human Events on Tuesday entitled, “How to Handle Sonia” and predictably, Buchanan advises Republicans to engage in blatant race baiting to appeal to white conservative voters, concluding that the Hispanic vote doesn’t matter to the future of the GOP.
Buchanan acknowledges that attacking Supreme Court Nominee Sonia Sotomayor, based on her race would backfire writing, that Republicans “should expect Hispanic hostility for a generation.”
Nevertheless, Buchanan is not one to give up on an opportunity to display bigotry and hatred towards anyone who is not white, and doesn’t view modern society as an assault on the privileges long accorded to white males.
In Buchanan’s worldview, affirmative action takes away jobs from white men and gives them to less deserving “affirmative action babies,” like Sotomayor and illegals are to blame for all the ills of our society.
Buchanan advises the GOP to defy mainstream views to appeal to the most vile and ignorant nativists in his party. He believes that McCain lost the election for not displaying enough racism towards Obama.
“Had McCain been willing to drape Jeremiah Wright around the neck of Barack Obama, as Lee Atwater draped Willie Horton around the neck of Michael Dukakis, the mainstream media might have howled. And McCain might be president,” said Buchanan.
Buchanan wants Republicans to engage in fear and hate mongering, by telling the white GOP base that they “…pay the price of affirmative action when their sons and daughters are pushed aside to make room for the Sonia Sotomayors.”
He paints Sotomayor as a “…militant supporter since college days of ethnic and gender preferences.” And as someone “…whose career bespeaks a lifelong resolve to discriminate against white males to the degree necessary to bring about an equality of rewards in society.’
Buchanan declares that Americans don’t support preferences and “…have tossed them out as naked discrimination against white males.”
The race-baiting mind of Pat Buchanan is a scary place.
