Dugard Children Learn Who Their Real Mother Is

September 2, 2009

California (ChattahBox) – The two children of Jaycee Lee Dugard, fathered by the registered sex offender who kidnapped her in the early 90’s and held her for 18 years, have just learned that the women they had been told was their older sister is really their mother.

Both 11-year-old Angel and 15-year-old Starlit had believed Nancy Garrido, who had assisted in holding, and sexually abusing, Jaycee, was their mother. They had been told your years that Jaycee was their sister.

It is just another fact in a long line of shocking information the poor girls have been forced to learn over the course of the last week. They are thrown in with other gems, such as that their father is a kidnapping pedophile and sexual deviant who kidnapped and raped their mother, that normal children don’t live holed up in a backyard without schooling, and that who they thought was their mother was aiding in the monstrosities being perpetrated on them, and on Jaycee.

I know I am not the only one who feels more and more disgusted with this couple of alleged human beings who did this. Garrido’s attempt at an insanity defense he seems to be building is a thinly veiled one. He has done these things before, charged and proven.

He should never have been released in the first place, and if officials had been more concerned with keeping men like this in prison for rape, rather than in arresting pot smokers, perhaps this never would have happened.

As for the cops who had been called to the property in the past by neighbors, and were allegedly too lazy to peek into the backyard to investigate, I hope they spend the rest of their lives losing sleep over this.

You know most of these so called “police/ parole officers” always have a chip on their shoulders, and even when they fail at their jobs they appear arrogant like saying “what are you going to do”, let’s face it, she saved herself, she was not saved by the authorities. Does anyone believe that the authorities were still investigating her disappearance? The car used in her kidnapping was in the backyard, the lazy ass cops didn’t even bother to go through the backyard when the information indicated that kids were living back there, they didn’t check local schools to see if the kids were going to school or even asked to see the kids, no report to child protective services, boy how lazy can you be and still pick up your public service check, not to mention the parole officers who failed to visit and find out where this freak was living and what he was doing. I guess she was taken in 1991, and in 1993 (only two years later) after violating probation he spent for 4 months in federal prison (California have yet to release any details of that violation or explain why he was again released into the community). Nevada officials said they were never notified of Garrido’s parole violation, which would have allowed the state to revoke his parole. Had California parole inspected his home in 1993, we would not be here now asking questions, we would be saying our system works, now I am not sure of anything. Because now I wonder how many more of these freaks are in our country doing the same thing under the noses of our so called authorities.

Yes, I agree he should have served all the time for his first offense, but don’t let our authorities off the hook. I can only say if you have a neighbor that fits this profile, call and call again to try to ensure that this does not happen again. Simply amazing.

This situation is beyond incomprehensible. It is poor investigative work from the beginning. Garrido was in the system and all the facts about his crimes, what he served time for and his sexual deviancy rating were all there for ALL the law enforcement agencies to read and take precautions. I think the officer(s) that visited the home because of neighbor referrals should be fired without compensation. I think the probation/parole officer(s) involved with Garrido should be terminated without further compensation. I think the Sheriff of Contra Costa county should be demoted and probably terminated without pension. I think there should be a review of FBI practices because they are the agency that investigates kidnappings and the earlier victim of Garrido was also kidnapped. There should be censure of the FBI agents that did not follow the rules 18 years ago. The compensation for Jaycee and her two daughter should be huge to cover all that she lost due to poor law enforcement work. The mother, stepfather and half-sister deserve compensation for loss of Jaycee for 18 years, future counseling . . . the stepfather should get a healthy amount for being unable to shake the feeling he was their lead suspect. The state of California may be broke right now but it is time to compensate into the 7 figures. There needs to be re-training of all law enforcement as to signs something is amiss. Thank heavens for the UC-Berkeley police for connecting the dots. There are so many people who owe this family an apology . . . there are NO words that can forgive the law enforcement agencies their inadequate job of digging out the facts and piecing together the case. The parole board should be removed. Where were their brains and common sense when they decided to let Garrido out FORTY years early? I hope the pain and loss to Jaycee and her entire family weighs each member of the parole board down until they are walking on their knees. The bottom line is . . . THERE IS NO VALID EXCUSE FOR THE POOR WAY ALL THE AGENCIES HANDLED THE ABDUCTION, EARLY RELEASE AND FAILURE TO PROPERLY INVESTIGATE. May their children never suffer what they each allowed Jaycee to suffer. They need our support and prayers and we can only they put together some type of life that brings a bit of happiness and contentment. Thank you.

Kare – She has been. They are both being charged with kidnapping and various abuse and rape charges. The husband may also be charged with murder if some of the accusations turn out to be true.
