Town Hall Protesters Sink to New Low: Heckle Woman in Wheelchair

September 3, 2009

(ChattahBox)—Misinformed and angry teabagger protesters of health care reform reached a new low during a recent town hall meeting held by Congressman Frank Pallone (D-NJ), when an angry mob heckled a woman in a wheelchair. The woman was telling her congressman of her plight, where she was afraid of losing her home because of crippling prescription medication costs.

The angry mob came to the town hall meeting equipped with stubborn pride in their ignorance, holding signs representing all of the falsehoods and anti-Obama slogans advanced by Republicans and the health insurance industry, including death panels, Communism and socialized medicine.

The woman in the wheelchair has two incurable autoimmune diseases and as she was explaining her problems with health insurance, the crowd tried to drown the poor woman out, shouting, “Ask a question!”

One of the loudest and meanest looking hecklers later said, that he didn’t come to the meeting to listen to other people‚Äôs opinions. And then lamented the fact that a woman in a wheelchair has more rights than he does.

One heckler said to Rep Pallone: “You should have been aborted!” One woman stood to ask for help saying her disabled daughter was dropped from her blind husband’s insurance plan. One angry protester shouted, “It’s your fault!”

Another teabagger told a reporter from the Star Ledger to “send his paper to Cuba, they are out of toilet paper there.”

This isn’t the first time Health Care reforms have been shouted down… It’s all happened before: http://ow.ly/o2gP

Your report tragically displays a segment of America drunk on ignorance. Do these protesters realize they are protesting against themselves? Health care is human care for everyone.

    Well done reporting!!

Credibility gets lost when you resort to calling the protesters “teabaggers”!

As you “report” stated, others there just wanted her to ask her question….not tell her whole life story!

When you show up in a mob and spout lies, then harangue a cripple and the mother of a cripple, you are a teabagger. When you refuse to engage in rational discourse, and espouse hatred of other Americans and fear mongering, you are a teabagger. You are the kind of person that thinks it’s cool to stick your filthy disease ridden genitalia in the faces of others because of a difference of opinion. There is no other possible definition of that behavior, because “jackass” and “asshole” just don’t cut it.

I found this through a friends facebook post, such amazingly quality reporting!
I feel this way about so many many issues. I hear people spout things that are not proven about politics (like Obama being muslim), and I see the bias in the media drowning out all senses of reason (liberal and conservative), and both sides make me overly sick of the whole system.

It’s like going to eat a bowl of cereal, and the milk is bad. The first bite of expectation of a favorite bowl is ruined by the bad milk. The thing I love is being an American. I love being in a nation where we have a black president, where our armed forces sacrifice for us to hold up the American dream, and that we are wealthy, not by monetary means, but by being a mosaic culture of much varied magnitude.
    Just my 2 cents!
