Angry, Ignorant Tea Party Crowd: Heckler Joe Wilson is Their Hero

September 13, 2009

(ChattahBox)—A crowd of tea party protesters estimated by the DC Fire Department at about 60,000 to 70,000 people, swarmed the west side of the Capitol along the Mall on Saturday. Some of the attendees were armed with cardboard signs displaying racial smears, ignorance, bigotry and anger. The crowd was mostly white with a large number of senior citizens and families.

The crowd shouted variations of the infamous refrain, “You lie” of the disgraced presidential heckler, Congressman Joe Wilson from South Carolina and proudly displayed signs portraying President Obama as a liar, Communist, Socialist, Marxist, a devil and Hitler to name a few.

It’s difficult to fathom why a group of people would embrace a man like Joe Wilson as their hero, who disgracefully called the President of the United States a liar during his speech before a joint session of Congress on national television. Rep. Wilson should be condemned for his shameful behavior, but teapartiers are endorsing Wilson’s hooliganism and lack of respect for the office of the president.

The Glenn Beck supporters from his 9/12 organization were in full force at the tea party march, as well as various groups funded and organized by Dick Armey’s FreedomWorks organization. Others there, were opposed to big government and excess taxation.

Sen. Jim DeMint (R-SC) appeared to speak before the crowd referencing his earlier statement that health care reform would be Obama’s Waterloo, “Ladies and Gentlemen: Welcome to Waterloo!” DeMint described the tea party protesters waving their signs depicting Obama as a Marxist and a Socialist, as “freedom fighters.”

DeMint insisted, in an interview with the Washington Independent, that the tea party crowds were “a cross-section of the population.” When confronted with the fact that nearly everyone at the march was white, DeMint said, “It’s probably just the time and organization and the media that promoted it.”

Meanwhile, House Democrats plan to introduce a “resolution of disapproval” next week unless Wilson apologizes on the House floor, but Sen. DeMint said he supported Wilson’s shout of “You Lie” to President Obama.

“I don’t think he’s going to do any more apologizing,” said DeMint.

Why would you say that they are showing their ignorance? …Just like the crowds who were speaking against Bush huh? Plenty of morons in those groups. But you only pay attention to what you want to. CNN interviewed and focused on supporters with less than normal understanding. Why didn’t you televise the people in the crowd who stated constitutional sections against what Obama is trying to do? Why didn’t you televise the people who know and understand that government cannot do anything as well as the free markets? Why don’t you interview anyone who can explain that the government is the one to blame for the lack of insurance company competition?…because that doesn’t help their case to think that opposers of the proposed governement plan are ignorant.

Sue (the writer of this piece of garbage) is an unhinged liberal lunatic.

Just claiming that people are racist doesn’t make it so, Sue. As a matter of fact, it makes you a liar.

But the lies are plentiful in this biased trash you are allowed to place online from the safety behind your computer.

Did you cover the anti-war marches with the same disgust? Probably not. You probably wouldn’t mention that pro-Obamacare rallies contain paid union members filling the audience either.

You’re just a miserable woman. I can only imagine what the people in your life say to you when you’re not around. I’m sure the most common thing is “My god, what a lunatic. Do NOT discuss politics with this freak.”

I have heard anyone call Joe Wilson a liar. I guess his remarks were impolite, but true.

  6. Will on September 13th, 2009 1:24 am

You really can fool some of the people all of the time. All this anger, all this shouting. Everyone absolutely convinced that “our side is right, and the other side is wrong”. “YOU LIE!” is the catchword of the day.

So who really is lying? All of them probably. That ‘s how politicians get elected. “You can’t trust BIG GOVERNMENT!”, probably true. Problem is there are only two sides to this argument. BIG GOVERNMENT, and BIG BUSINESS. At least that is how it appears on the surface. Lets face it, big business bought the US government a long time ago, how do you think they got the bailouts and the bonus money? We can all scream at each other to our hearts content, it makes no difference. When all is said and done, big business will make a fortune, and the rest of us will be holding the bag………again.

If you are going to say that Americans who are peaceably exercising their right of free speech with “cardboard signs displaying their racism, ignorance, bigotry”, I suggest you at least provide some pictures of these offending signs. To use such vile terms as “racists” and bigots” against people who disagree with the current administration is certainly not journalism. To make those kinds of statements and then not back them up with any kind of substantial facts is should be criminal. Every person shown in your pictures should sue you for libel; they would win hands down.
I find it very telling that rather than answer the questions these Americans (remember their right to free speech) are asking, the left and left leaning persons writing trash like this article prefer to resort to name calling. Could it be you have no good and reasonable answers? Could it be they have no position to argue from? You just can’t dispute the facts, so cloud the issue with race baiting. Calling this “Journalist” denigrates every true journalist who ever put pen to paper. You should be very ashamed.

  8. Joe Carlton on September 13th, 2009 1:50 am

What’s wrong with this group for being almost entirely white?

You don’t confront black marches for being almost entirely black, or hispanic marches for being almost entirely hispanic.

What’s the difference? Well, there isn’t one. You address them differently because you’re an anti-white racist and a bigot.

But please… keep up the good work. This rally is just the kick-off, and your bigoted double-standards are just putting fuel on the fire.

Who ever wrote this diatribe against All American Protesting is so blatantly a left winger it’s pathetic–what happened to “question authority” and “Civil Disobedience is Patriotic,” it’s amazing how when the left is in power they throw all their “civil disobedience” and protesting out the window and declare regular American Citizens as “hooligans.” What an embarrassment to journalism or should I say faux-journalism. If a Democrat would have jumped up and said “you lie” to Bush he would have been a left-wing super-hero and the joker writing this scrawl would never, ever characterize him as a hooligan.

  12. LISA on September 13th, 2009 2:28 am

70,000 people? Most of the other media is saying it was more like 1.5 to 2 million. That’s a big difference there. Someone’s not telling the truth for some odd reason.

  13. Sue on September 13th, 2009 2:35 am

Thank you for all your comments. You certainly do have a right to protest and speak your mind and show vigorous, loud and even rude opposition to government policies you disagree with. That’s the American way in the free and open Democratic society we are fortunate to live in. But that doesn’t mean everyone will agree with you.

And when the tea party movement embraces the disgraceful behavior of Rep. Joe Wilson, you should expect to be criticized. And when a tea party march is populated with a sea of bigoted and racist images, comparing President Obama to Hitler and other despicable figures in history; you should expect to be criticized.

I understand no one enjoys being characterized as ignorant or racist and that characterization certainly doesn’t represent the entire crowd, but you can’t deny that you were part of a protest march where ugliness and hate predominated.

    I am attaching additional photos.

Thank you again for your comments.

I was at a Sarah Palin-John McCain rally of 25000 people in Fairfax, Virginia in September 2008. On my way out, I saw 3 lefties with signs attacking Republicans – and CNN with huge camera and two other media groups interviewing them (the three unshaven losers).

Figures the Chattahbox would resort to the race card.

It’s despicable, but it’s an easy way to avoid anything intellectual, such as actual journalism (WHO, WHAT, HOW, WHERE and WHY), such as actually addressing the issues – you know?

Guess the Chattahbox is not going to be happy unless there’s a race war.

Hey Chattahbox, even if all the evil “white” (Obama is half-white) people disappeared tomorrow, what would you do about a real race problem – China?

  17. Elizabeth on September 13th, 2009 3:01 am

Sue – you’re an idiot. Go look up the definition of bigotry and racism. Comparing the Obamanation to the Genocidal freak is not a far stretch, and is certainly isn’t bigoted or racist.

Your stance that tea party members are uneducated is based on what? Your best guess? Or your firm grasp in the meanings of the words you choose to throw around.

To make a statement that “You certainly do have a right to protest and speak your mind and show vigorous, loud and even rude opposition to government policies you disagree with. That’s the American way” and follow it up with a blast on people supporting Rep. Joe Wilson… as if he’s somehow no longer entitled to be an American and speak his mind in protest… I wish more of them would stand up and call each other on the crap they are and have been trying to pull for god knows how long.

It proves to me that you are a liberal leaning toward socialist, and you are entitled to your free speech… but expect those of us that disagree to be very vocal. As a black conservative, I’m ashamed of the Obamanation.

I am a union member and I am not for this intrusion into my health care. President Obama says he is going to pay for this new program with the waste and Fraud found in other government programs. If there is almost a trillion dollars in fraud in two other Government programs why would I think a third government program is going to be any more efficient?? I will no longer vote for a democrat if any part of this Obama care passes. Thank you.

It’s really funny isn’t it to hear liberals whine about this stupid thing? Joe will apologize after Nazi Pelosi does the same for the accusations she made against the CIA and then has ACORN investigated and stripped of the $800 M it is getting in taxpayer funds.

All those 1.5M people yesterday were just there because they hate the president… Shyah right!

Like as if we don’t have a lot of OTHER stuff to be upset about?

Van Jones calls Republicans ‘a**holes’ but he’s a hero.

Joe Wilson was rude — well let me tell you – so were the founding fathers… and we’re glad! They both told the truth.

We’ll be rude again if it’s necessary to take back this country from the ‘enemy within’.

Looting the treasury to give to his euro-trash elitist banker friends puppet masters
9,000 earmarks for his cronies in a $787B spending spree
Taking of white conservative car dealerships and handing them to blacks who couldn’t run theirs successfully
Taking over health care for the managed society for his utopian handlers, among them, George Soros, Nazi sympathizer and aider and abetter (look it up losers)
    …and more.

Soros owns the Dem party — and he helped confiscate property from Jews for Hitler.

But oh, we just are racists.

Well, Joe Wilson told the truth and the Dems continue to lie about everything.

There are 30 health care bills the minority party has offered and the Dems, er Socialists won’t even look at them, but yet continue to lie and say the GOP is not offering any alternative. (Just like they do this at the state level in NH)

I’ll say it over and over again until it sinks in to you libtards —– OBAMA IS A LIAR,

Some of us can actually read what is really in the bill unlike him.

Check out some of these awesome signs and tell us Sue, where was your indignation and criticism then?

I wonder if people understand that a majority of people who voted for Obama are also white??? Since White people are still the majority in this country, it should not be a shock that most people at this event would also be white. That is not racism, that is fact. Also Wilson was NOT incorrect. There is ZERO provision to make sure illegals are identified as illegals. That idea was voted down. So you liberals need to do some research before you make even bigger fools out of yourselves. But then again, you could not be a more bigger fool than you already are.

  37. Cnation on September 13th, 2009 3:04 pm

Joe Wilson WAS right. Rude yes, but right..

How right, you ask? Right enough that president Obama announced on Friday night that he will now back a provision in the healthcare bill requiring citizenship verification – an announcement that would have been completely unnecessary if, as he originally claimed, “the reforms I’m proposing would not apply to those who are here illegally.”.

Obama said ‘If you misrepresent what’s in the plan, we will call you out’

Well, Obama misrepresented the contents of the proposed bill. It’s not like it’s a matter of opinion, it has been proven. Repeatedly.

You teabaggers are an embarrassment and a frightening mob. Please, blaming the media for your stupidity is ridiculous and cliche – you are far closer to a Nazi mob than any protest in recent history, and your leaders (Beck, Limbaugh, Coulter, Hannity, Savage – none of whom did anything for this country other than stir hate) are spreading misinformation just like the fascist dogma and propaganda of Goebbels. And you teabagging anti-Americans are simply following along like a herd of lemmings. Shame on you!!!

Will the bill provide for Illegal Imigrants or not? Every Democrat including the president never answers the questions directly. Give me a break! Answer the question in front of all the American people and then maybe Joe Wilson will apoligize again infront of the American people. Go Joe… or should we really say Thank you Joe …because for once someone actually was heard trying to spead the truth about the healthcare reform plan.

  44. Big D on September 14th, 2009 7:53 pm

I do not know enough about Mr. Wilson to make any comments about him but I think the issue goes further then left and right extremism. The problem is that we have 2 parties representing and catering to the same groups of people and it just so happens that neither of them represent the common folk. Tax and spend and give away to everyone and only like 30% of the country are truly flipping the bill. 30% of populous on Federal, State or local government payrolls, 20-30 % of population on support from Government 2% not even legal citizens and the rest to work to the bone and pay for all of the above.

Yes it is costing government to much to pay their own health care and that is the problem. So again lets put more burdon onto the tax payers by forcing all of us to be part of the mess.

I say healthcare should be no different then calling a plumber. How much should a 15 minute doctor visit cost? How much should some basic blood test cost? I would not pay 200$ for a oil and filter change so maybe it is time for all of us that have insurance to start acting like we pay for each bill out of pocket so that we can actually start refusing service because it is too much?

My first bill in the Senate/House is to make it illegal for any lawyer to become a representative since it is a direct conflict of interest for their career. Politics was never meant to be a permanent career and yet it was never intended for over educated under achiever lawyers to monopolize the system for their own good and the good of other fellow lobyists and lawyers.

Time to brew some tea! Or maybe light up a cigarette while I still have the freedom to do so.
