Missing Yale Student’s Remains Apparently Found

September 14, 2009

Connecticut (ChattahBox) — Annie Le, a Yale graduate student who has been missing since last Tuesday, has apparently been found inside a basement wall at Yale University. While the remains must still be officially identified, authorities were assuming they were of Ms. Le, 24, a 4-foot-11 and 90 pound daughter of Vietnamese immigrants who was studying pharmacology.

“Shortly after 1700, the Connecticut state police major crime squad located the remains of a human secreted within a wall inside the building of number 10, Amistad Street,” said New Haven Assistant Police Chief Peter Reichard.

“At the same time, the police department is assuming the role as the lead agency in this case, which is more or less moving from a missing person’s case to a homicide investigation,” he added.

Le was to be married on Sunday to a New York student Jonathan Widawsky, and was last seen on Tuesday, on a surveillance video entering a lab building. Despite reviewing over hundreds of hours of video from dozens of cameras, police could not catch a glimpse of her leaving the building. On Saturday, the police reportedly found bloody clothes above ceiling tiles in the lab ending possible speculation of a runaway bride. Ironically Le had written a magazine article about how to stay safe on the streets around the Ivy League school seven months ago, only to have met an apparently violent death in a secure Yale building accessible only to students and staff.  It seems likely the police will make an arrest soon though.  With a time of death and a secured building could narrow down the search significantly. Also previous bloody clothes found in the lab apparently belonged to the likely killer, not to Annie Le so DNA can be used to weed out the perpetrator of this horrific crime.

Wow, that is just too awful, what’s wrong with this world. She probably and defiantly had a future and it’s all taken away…
