NYPD May Have Blown The Terror Raids, FBI Source Says

September 23, 2009

New York (ChattahBox) – A criminal complaint has allegedly been filed by someone within the FBI that claims the NYPD nearly blew the cover of the undercover operation to break up a possible terrorist plot.

According to the complaint, an NYPD group unconnected to the FBI counter-terrorism squad on the case, questioned an imam about Najibullah Zazi, the young man who has been arrested and admitted to receiving training in a Pakistan terror camp.

The religious leader, Ahmad Wais Afzali, was then heard having a conversation in a secret taping with Zazi, where he told them that ‘they had been asking’ about the three men believed to be involved in a plot to target New York’s transit system.

Zazi then confirmed that he believed he was being watched, after his rental car was towed by the same NYPD group and searched.

A source within the FBI has said that the police officers involved in these two incidents pushed the FBI’s hand, forcing them to conduct raids, and nearly blowing the case against Zazi.

Officials at both the NYPD and FBI are denying this, but won’t comment on the alleged complaint.
