Mom Who Took Gun To Soccer Match Killed In Shooting

October 8, 2009

Pennsylvania (ChattahBox) – A woman who sparked outrage last year when she defiantly wore a pistol in plain view at a her then 5-year-old daughter’s soccer game has been shot in what appears to be a murder-suicide.

Meleanie Hain is believed to have been shot by her husband, Scott Hain. A neighbor had reported that the two had been fighting for a week, and that a few days before Scott had disappeared for a night, returning the next day.

According to police, the couple’s three children, aged 10, 6. and 2 came running out, screaming that their father had shot their mother. Sometime in the next moments, he allegedly shot himself.

It is a tragically ironic twist of fate for the woman who had sued a local judge for revoking her gun license, after she appeared at a soccer game with it clearly in view.

At the time, the case had sparked talk about increased legislation, as many officials said that it was common sense not to take a firearm to a child’s soccer match.

It is not known if the firearm used in the death was the same weapon, or another.

The children have been moved to a friend’s home for the time being. None of them were physically harmed in the shootings.
