Body of Missing Missouri Girl Found

October 23, 2009

(ChattahBox) — Another missing little girl saga has ended badly.  The body of 9-year-old Missouri girl Elizabeth Olten, was found Friday, two days after she disappeared, police reported via KRCG-TV, Columbia, Mo.  Cole County Sheriff Greg White announced in a televised press conference, that she was found deep in the woods away from the initial search area near her St. Martins home. Authorities also recovered Elizabeth’s cell phone, he said. An older juvenile was arrested as a person of interest, who was acquainted with Elizabeth, according to Sheriff White. Physical evidence and written evidence led police to the unidentified person of interest.  Sheriff White said that it could be a week before the charges will be filed because of a mandatory review period.  Elizabeth was last seen when she started walking home from a neighbor’s house on Wednesday evening.  It’s another senseless tragedy that makes one question why our children are not safe to walk around by themselves even near their own homes.
