GOP Rep Deal to Send Letter to Obama Demanding Birth Certificate
November 5, 2009
(ChattahBox)—Right-wing Rep. Nathan Deal (R-GA) is known for his xenophobia and frequent campaigns against undocumented immigrants. Now, Rep. Deal who is running for governor of Georgia, plans to jump on the birther express in a big way, by sending a letter directly to the President of the United States to demand he produce a copy of his birth certificate.
According to Talking Points Memo, Deal made his plans known during an online chat held by his campaign this morning. Deal is a GOP primary candidate for governor.
During the chat, Deal was asked if he believed that President Obama was a natural born citizen. Deal responded that he plans to join other lawmakers in signing a letter to the President demanding that he produce proof:
“I am joining several of my colleagues in the House in writing a letter to the President asking that he release a copy of his birth certificate so we can have an answer to this question,” said Deal.
Deal’s campaign spokesman Harris Blackwood claims Deal just wants an answer. “Let’s just get an answer, that’s all we’re saying, not suggesting anything to the contrary.”
Deal recently came under fire referring to so called, “ghetto grandmothers” who don’t have birth certificates. Deal is on a mission to make sure illegal immigrants don’t try to steal health insurance under the federal Medicaid program.
The rabidly nativist Deal has now joined the fringe birther conspiracy. Shameful!
