<description>The profile of a soldier fighting in Afghanistan is a male in his early twenties with some college who may likely be married and have a young child or children waiting for his return home to them. Statistically, 80% of these young men have been shot at, ambushed, witnessed the death or severe injury of other soldiers usually a member of their unit who may have been their friend. And the average amount of these horrific experiences for each soldier is at least six times during each tour of duty in Afghanistan.
Briefly stopping at Elmendorf Air Force Base in Alaska to refuel before jaunting to Japan, President Obama told our military “I will not risk your lives unless it is necessary to America’s vital interests.” This comment is hypocritical when contrasted with the fact that President Obama indefinitely strands a trickle of our troops in the hell known as Afghanistan because, after nearly a year in office, he is still working on “getting it right” on fight ing the war in Afghanistan.
