Beck’s Christmas Sweater Simulcast a Bust in Big Cities

December 4, 2009

(ChattahBox)—Glenn Beck’s Live simulcast of “The Christmas Sweater – A Return To Redemption,” was shown Thursday night in 400 movie theaters across the country. The “American classic” drew decent crowds in rural tea party enclaves, but failed to interest audiences in major cities, like Boston and New York. Beck’s live reenactment of his book, which is based on a “personal tale of love, faith and family,” only managed to attract 17 paying customers in New York, an additional 17 in Boston and just 30 in Washington, DC, according to the Raw Story.

Ticket sales closest to Beck’s hometown in Washington State sold out, but Seattle only managed to sell 70 tickets:

“The viewing in Lynnwood, WA — the closest one to Beck’s Mount Vernon hometown — sold out several hours before the show began. Ten miles south, 70 out of 415 seats had been snagged in Seattle, a better turnout than other cities.”

Beck’s live simulcast consisted of the teary eyed Beck pantomiming and acting out “real life events that inspired him to write “The Christmas Sweater.” Beck then told “stories of the overwhelming response he received,” and showed a “re-mastered and exclusive version of The Christmas Sweater taped live during his 2008 cross-country tour.”

For all of that great entertainment, people had to shell out about $20.00 per ticket. A prerecorded encore rebroadcast will be shown on December 10th.

To be sure, redemption is a wonderful gift to experience. And I commend Beck for turning his life around and becoming sober. But he poisons the airwaves every night with offensive hate, bigotry and fear mongering. And he promotes harmful conspiracy conspiracies that have helped to define the vitriolic discourse in our country and the blind hatred of our President.

It’s unfortunate Beck didn’t come back from the brink of despair to do something positive with his life.

Love to hear how conservatives are always labeled fear – mongerers and bigots. Run out of other adjectives? Give me one example, Sue.

The description of Glenn in this article couldn’t be farther from the truth. It is always obvious that this reviewer doesn’t actually watch his program regularly because Glenn always stresses his love of people connecting with each other. And the “conspiracy theories” always come around to be truth- because that is what Glenn does- expose the truth…and the truth isn’t always easy to look at.

I know Glenn personally. He donates more time and money to helping so many people- people that will never be shown on CNN or MSNBC. He’s got more class in the tip of his finger then the entire roster at NBC, ABC, CBS, CNN, MSNBC, New York Times, etc, etc, etc…

Seriously Shannon? You cannot think of one exanple of conservative fear-mongering and bigotry? How about Beck’s constant comparisons of Obama to Hitler? How about Bush claiming that Saddam Hussein was a serious threat to the U.S.? How about Reagan and his ‘welfare queen” stories? How about Palin and her “death panels’? How about Rush Limbaugh calling the crowds that celebrated Obama’s election victory as “hordes” looking for handouts? How about Michael Savage suggesting that instead of having federal law protecting minority voting rights the gov’t install voting machines in crack houses? How about Karl Rove firing US Attorneys who wouldn’t help him suppress the black vote?

    Glenn Beck is always fearmongering.

I recall a few months ago I was litening to Glenn Beck and he was attacking one of his former sponsors GM/OnStar. Glenn was warning his audience about how “Gummint Motors” (GM) can now track them all and eavesdrop on them thru OnStar. And since GM is no longer paying money to Glenn Beck he doesn’t have to say nice things about them any more and now he can tell his fans the TROOTH!

But I guess the truth is relative with Glenn since he completely failed to mention that every tracking and eavesdropping technical capability of OnStar is present on each of his fans’ cellphones too. Guess he didn’t want to lose focus on his target.

And the truth is never quite good enough for Glenn Beck because he next went on to make the ludicrous claim that GM and OnStar can even deflate your car’s tires if they ever wanted to!

Glenn Beck often claims he’s just a “radio clown” but he knows what he’s doing and he must know it’s evil.

Beck seems to have following of more than the fringers and baggers .

He also has a following of those who just hate Beck waiting to pounce on him for every lie and mis-statement and mis-representation, and THAT IS A VERY GOOD THING as he is a dangerously delusional man UNABLE TO SORT FACT FORM FICTION OR TO DEAL WITH THE REALITY OF MODERN AMERICA.

He brought on a mental health expert to confirm that he is right to believe he is a messianic figure and a visionary of un-equaled stature. THAT IS ALL THE PROOF I NEEDED TO KNOW THAT NOTHING IS BEYOND THIS DERANGED WANNA BE DICTATOR and nothing he has done since has changed that determination.

I think if he has the chance he would try to bring down the UNITED STATES and he would think that the death and destruction that resulted would be a good thing, he is in every way the Holnist of DAVID BRINs novel the postman, read it as the movie failed to capture the true evil that he is capable of given the chance.

Well its late and I have to go so anyone who defends this man please be aware that I am a veteran who will always keep his oath to UP HOLD THE RULE OF LAW AND TO SUPPORT THE CONSTITUTION AGAINST ALL ENEMIES BOTH FOREIGN AND DOMESTIC and GLEN BECK AND HIS SUPPORTERS are in fact already on the path to becoming those domestic enemies.
