California (ChattahBox) – With an overwhelming amount of support for marijuana legalization has been heard all over the U.S. But California will be the state that starts the bidding, with a new measure for legalization on the 2010 ballot.

Over 680,000 signatures were gathered in support of a ballot slot, 57% more than the needed 433,971 to pass the measure.

“It was so easy to get them,” Richard Lee, one of the major supporters that helped gather names, said.

“People were so eager to sign.”

The names ensure that an initiative to make marijuana a legal and regulated substance in California will be on the next ballot, set for 2010.

This comes after it was found that 54% of America supports legalization, and 56% in California alone believe it should be taxed and used to help with the economic crisis.
