American Airlines Jet Overshoots Runway in Jamaica – Many Injured But No Fatalities

December 23, 2009

(ChattahBox) – An American Airlines plane from Miami with 148 passengers and six crew members overran the runway on landing at Kingston, Jamaica’s Manley International Airport and crashed. Ninety-one people were injured after none, thankfully, were killed. Flight AA 331 from Miami arrived in heavy rain at Kingston airport late Tuesday. The plane ended up skidding across a road and came to a halt with its nose a mere 10 feet from the sea, stopped only by the upward slope of the sand. One of the jet’s engines broke off, and the aircraft body was cracked, officials said. None of the injuries were considered critical; but some had broken bones, cuts and bruises and were badly shaken up.

At least there were no fatalities and it looks like everyone will be okay.
