Teresa Heinz-Kerry Is Battling Breast Cancer, Report Says
December 23, 2009
Kerry originally went in for what they originally believed was a benign tumor, but turned out to be malignant.
She has undergone to surgical lumpectomies, one in September, one in November, and the growth has been removed from her right breast.
She will now be going through radiation next month during a five day procedure, and the prognosis is so far positive. But she says this illustrates the desperate need for yearly mammograms for all women.
“Chemotherapy is serious. It also costs a lot of money. It’s very painful. And it’s very destructive of people’s – most people’s – lives for a while, anyway. So why put people through that instead of just having a test that’s done, and it’s done?”
