Anti-Health Bill Teabagger Dumps Tree: Dems ‘Ruined Christmas’ With Senior ‘Genocide’
December 26, 2009
(ChattahBox)—C-Span has been on the receiving end of some strange and wacky callers lately, since the contentious and often vitriolic rhetoric from Republican opponents of the health care reform bill has made its way to the tea party heartland. Last week, a teabag member from Georgia, was upset that he may have mistakenly prayed Sen. Inhofe (R-OK) to death, when he really meant to kill off Sen. Byrd (D-WV). And just minutes after the senate passed the historic health reform bill early on Christmas Eve, a teabag lady from Parsons, Kansas called in to voice her opposition to the bill. Bunny from Kansas, said that she was so upset that she completely de-Christmased her house by throwing out her Christmas tree and wreath. And she even went to the trouble of removing all of the lights from her house. “They absolutely have ruined Christmas,” complained Bunny the teabagger.
Bunny told C-Span’s Peter Slen that “they” ruined the Christmas holiday for all of the more Godly lawmakers. The “they” is an apparent reference to the Democratic senators who voted to pass the bill on Christmas Eve:
BUNNY: “I have taken my Christmas wreath off my house. I have taken all the lights down. This is supposed to be a nation under God, and it isn’t. They absolutely have ruined Christmas for all of the senators and representatives that are supposed to be under God. This is God’s holiday for the birth of his son.”
Perhaps Bunny from Kansas isn’t aware that Republican filibustering and obstructionism forced the Democrats to hold the rare Christmas Eve vote.
Bunny then tells Peter Splen that she wants to see the entire country undergo a complete power blackout in opposition to health care reform:
SPLEN: “So you took down your Christmas tree because of the Senate health care bill?”
BUNNY: “I certainly did. And I would like to see every light in the nation go out, especially in the White House.”
When asked why she was so adamantly opposed to the reform of our broken health care system, Bunny invoked Palin’s death panels, which incidentally was chosen as the biggest lie of the year:
SPLEN: Why are you so opposed to it Bunny?
BUNNY: Because it’s divisive between my son who is younger and myself and in many families it’s that way. Either it’s genocide on the seniors or this hospice that’s never supposed to be supported by federal or state money. They are a not-for-profit organization that even Germany has kicked out.”
It’s scary out there. The “Bunnys from Kansas” of the world are easily swayed by the false rhetoric spewing from the right-wing and Republican lawmakers are using the teapartiers’ ignorance and distrust of our first black president to their advantage.
