Sex Offender Arrested as Missing Maryland Girl’s Body Found
December 26, 2009
(ChattahBox) — The body of an 11-year-old girl, Sarah H. Foxwell, who was was snatched from her Wicomico County, Md., bedroom Wednesday night was found today. Thousands of volunteers spent Christmas searching for her. Thomas J. Leggs Jr., 30, a registered sex offender in Maryland and Delaware was arrested Wednesday and charged in her kidnapping and is the main suspect in the murder investigation.
As is so often seen in these tragic cases, there was a relationship that gave the sex offender an opportunity to fixate on his victim. Leggs was a former boyfriend of Foxwell’s aunt, who was Sarah’s legal guardian and the owner of the home from which she was allegedly kidnapped. Leggs was identified by Sarah’s 6-year-old sister, who saw him entering the girl’s bedroom late Wednesday night, and described the kidnapper down to the clothing he was wearing, police said. Authorities also say Leggs has been uncooperative in the investigation. More here at ABC News.
