Leonardo DaVinci Painting Found In America?
January 1, 2010
Boston (ChattahBox) – Boston, Mass. may be holding a secret masterpiece, after a story by the Washington Post revealed that the Museum of Fine Arts may have found a previously unknown Leonardo DaVinci painting.
Sources have not denied or confirmed the claims, but the responses when asked by the news correspondents at the Post seems promising.
“We don’t comment on works that the MFA may be studying or considering for acquisition,” a spokesperson said.
“Can’t tell you anything about it, sorry,” the museum’s Renaissance curator, Frederick Ilchman, said.
If it turns out that they do have a true DaVinci it will be a huge find for the art community.
The number of paintings in the Americas would also double, with this being the second held here, after Ginevra de’ Benci, which is held at the National Gallery of Art, Washington D.C.
