Fox News’ Hume: Tiger Woods Should Find Jesus to be ‘Great Example to the World’
January 4, 2010
(ChattahBox)—-Fox News doesn’t think too much of those other religions, like Buddhism, Judaism and other non-Christian beliefs. And of course Muslims are out for obvious reasons; they should be profiled at airports, but not “racially profiled” and one recent Fox News guest said he wants Muslim men stripped searched. So, it should come as no surprise when on Sunday, Brit Hume, one of those real news reporters Fox News loves to hold up as a standard for its fair and balanced reporting, said the PGA golfer Tiger Woods, immersed in sex scandals, who is a practicing Buddhist, should convert to Christianity to receive forgiveness for his sins. Perhaps Hume was merely being helpful and sought to save Woods from his eventual bad Karma?
Yes, Hume was probably throwing Woods a lifeline, because bible-thumping hypocrisy has come in so handy to Republican lawmakers caught in sex scandals. Take for example disgraced Republican, Mark Sanford governor of South Carolina, who recently abandoned his family and constituents to jet off to Argentina to be in the arms of his lover. When he returned from his romp with his Argentine mistress, Sanford claimed that he should be forgiven for his transgressions and he compared himself to King David, the biblical King of Israel. Unfortunately, his wife Jenny Sanford wasn’t so forgiving and she intends to file for divorce.
On Sunday, Brit Hume not only suggested that Tiger Woods’ faith wasn’t acceptable, but also said that if Woods found Jesus he would serve as an example to the world:
“The extent to which he can recover seems to me depends on his faith,” said Hume. “He is said to be a Buddhist. I don’t think that faith offers the kind of redemption and forgiveness offered by the Christian faith. My message to Tiger is, ‘Tiger turn to the Christian faith and you can make a total recovery and be a great example to the world.”
