According to Section 221, persons who do not respond shall be fined not more than $100. Title 18 U.S.C. Section 3571 and Section 3559, in effect amends Title 13 U.S.C. Section 221 by changing the fine for anyone over 18 years old who refuses or willfully neglects to complete the questionnaire or answer questions posed by census takers from a fine of not more than $100 to not more than $5,000.

Firstly: “It should be noted that refusing to fully complete a US Census form is a crime punishable by a $5,000 fine.”

Second: Who is advocating NOT filling out the Census, at all (which would lead to the under-count you seem to hope occurs)? Answer: NOBODY. The Census – as in COUNTING the number of people for the purposes of representation – is a universally recognized Constitutional requirement. However, in the opinion of MANY people, the information BEYOND THAT (racial information, for example) is PRIVATE information that is neither called for by the Constitution nor any of the Government’s business.

So, Rep. Bachmann, like myself, will be filling out (as she said), “how many people are in our home” and NOTHING else. Therefore, her family and mine WILL be COUNTED for the purposes of general population reports, Electoral College distribution, and Congressional redistricting.

However, if Papa Gov’ment want to generate racist reports based upon my skin color, they will be SH*T OUT OF LUCK. I will pay the $100. It is a paltry sum to advance freedom and move towards a *truly* post-racial society.
