AIDS Hoax Video Meant To Help Fight Aids, Woman Says
January 16, 2010
The video was a hoax posted on the website MediaTakeOut.com by Jackie Braxton, a woman who goes by the name of ‘Fame’ on a subscription porn site she and her husband run.
“I’ve set out to destroy the world. Three minutes of pleasure turns into a lifetime of death,” the woman said in the video, her face covered as she claimed that she had infected 500 men with the deadly disease.
The video became viral and calls began flooding into the Health Department and local police.
She was arrested and forced to do blood testing, and was found not to have HIV/AIDS.
According to Braxton she had meant the videos as a public service to raise awareness of AIDS, and how easy it can be to pay the rest of your life for a few moments of irresponsible pleasure.
Her tactic worked.
In Detroit the number of people getting AIDS screenings went up significantly as a consequence of her video.
