Virginia Shooter Suspect Found Hiding Explosives

January 20, 2010

Virginia (ChattahBox) – A man who is believed to have killed eight people, two of which might have been his wife and son, Tuesday has turned himself over to police after an all-night standoff in a nearby wood.

Police found a number of explosives in the home where seven people were found shot dead, and an eighth outside nearby.

They have been exploded by bomb experts, but until that is complete the identification of the bodies could not occur.

Local police, however, believe that two of the people found in the house are the wife and son of suspect Christopher Speight, the 39-year-old who created mass panic in the small town of Appomattox.

He has been described as ‘cooperative’ since giving himself over the police, but no motive has been discovered for the killings.

Police are still looking for the high powered rifle they believe Speight used to shoot at a helicopter joining in the manhunt last night.
