Casey Anthony Pleads Guilty To Check Fraud; Murder Case Pending
January 25, 2010
She was reportedly tearful in the courtroom, admitting that she stole a checkbook from a friend and wrote several $650 checks.
“I just wanted to let everyone know that I’m sorry for what I did. I take complete and full responsibility for my actions, and I’d like to apologize to Amy. I wish I’d been a better friend,” she told the courtroom.
Her sentence was given as time served, due to the fact that she has spent over a year in prison on the unrelated murder charge.
Anthony has been suspected in the death of her toddler daughter since she went missing in 2008.
Anthony’s mother, Cindy, initially reported her grandchild missing after her mother had withheld her disappearance for 30 days.
Caylee’s remains were found in December 2008, and police released documents last year that stated that they believed her body had spent ‘some time’ in the the back of the 23-year-old mother’s car.
She was arrested and has pleaded not guilty to the charges of murder.
