Palin Uses PAC Money to Buy $63,000 Worth of Own Books
February 2, 2010
(ChattahBox)— Sarah Palin, former half-term governor of Alaska, losing Republican vice presidential candidate and incoherent Facebook-er and Fox News contributor, spent more of her Sarah PAC donations on copies of her own book, than she gave to political candidates. According to recent FEC reports reports filed by Palin’s PAC, more than $63,000 was spent on purchasing copies of her memoir “Going Rogue,” while donating just $43K to federal candidates.
Palin’s purchases of her own books with PAC donations is not an uncommon practice among conservatives. Although, if she were running for office or a sitting member of congress, the Federal Election Commission would most likely look unkindly on the scheme.
The $63,000 worth of “Going Rogue” copies were described in the filing, as “books for fundraising donor fulfillment.” Donors who donated more than $100 to Sarah PAC between between November 16 and November 25, received signed copies of Palin’s book. And of course the lucky donors will also be tapped for additional donations.
Quite a sweet deal for Palin. The books were purchased with donors’ money, and the “Going Rouge” copies will now be used as a tool to raise additional funds.
The Sarah PAC also spent another $8,000 on colorful bookmarks for her best-selling memoir.
