Businesses Behind ‘Impeach Obama’ Billboard Angered Over ‘Tax and Spend Politics’
February 16, 2010
(ChattahBox)—-A giant billboard looming over U.S. Highway 41 near Oshkosh Wisconsin, demanding the impeachment of President Obama is a testament to the vitriolic and aberrant political landscape that now plagues our nation. The billboard reads: “Impeach Obama,” with the tagline, “America’s small businesses are failing; help us spread the message.” Who commissioned this billboard? A group of anonymous small “businessmen who are concerned about tax and spend politics.” In this current political climate, conservative business owners who disagree with the president’s fiscal policies not only go off the deep end and call for his impeachment from office for high crimes and misdemeanors, but they also feel no inclination to hide their absurdity and instead, pay thousands of dollars to advertise it on a major highway.
The group of Wisconsin business owners contacted lawyer Tom Wroblewski to incorporate a limited liability corporation to commission the billboard on their behalf. After receiving a number of questions about the provocative message on the billboard, Wroblewski issued a press release to local media explaining the thinking behind the billboard’s message. Wroblewski claims that the group of business owners don’t believe that Obama has committed an impeachable offense:
“The company (that paid for the billboard) is supported by a number of area businessmen who are concerned about tax and spend politics. The billboard is not meant to allege any impeachable offense has been committed; It is simply an expression of frustration by my client that politics in Washington should change to better support small businesses,” Wroblewski said in a written statement.
And after the lawyer received a barrage of angry phone calls complaining about the message on the billboard, he attempted to distance himself further from it:
“It is nothing personal for my dad or me,” Wroblewski said. “It is a limited liability company that our firm represents. The company chose the location of the billboard and chose the language.” “We represent a group of small-business owners,” he said. “We organized the company and solicited the contract on their behalf.”
The business group behind the billboard feels so strongly that President Obama has not committed an impeachable offense that they have contracted to pay $1,000 a month for at least six-months to ensure that the billboard’s message is read by every motorist traveling on U.S. Highway 41 between the U.S. Highway 45 and Jackson Street interchanges.
