Reintroduction Of Pot Tax Bill In California

February 19, 2010

California (ChattahBox) – The second release of a bill that would legalize and tax marijuana has been announced in San Francisco.

The bill, created by Tom Ammiano would make marijuana a legalized substance for regular sale to people of a certain age, and tax it to provide money for the state.

It is the second time this bill is being introduced.

The first, called AB390 gathered a great deal of support, but was allowed to expire before being voted on so the second draft could be introduced.

Now AB2254 has been announced, and it is hoped that it will show even more support from state citizens.

“Our prisons are overflowing and it’s easier now for teenagers to get marijuana than alcohol,” Ammiano said.

“We simply cannot afford to continue keeping our heads in the sand and pretend that everything is fine.”
