Two Dead, Hundreds Injured In California-Mexico Earthquake

April 5, 2010

(ChattahBox) – A 7.2 magnitude earthquake hit the California-Mexico border last night, leaving at least two dead and at least 140 injured, while other remained trapped in their homes.

Aid is being rushed from Tijuana into Mexicali, where people have been trapped in their homes and in buildings.

Hospitals have so far treated 140 patients, five of which were reported in critical condition, and the number is expected to rise as people are pulled from damaged houses.

Mexicali seems to have received the most damage, and all injuries are from that area.

Buildings have been reported as having the sides ripped off, people are trapped in rubble, and telephone poles have toppled.

This is the largest earthquake to hit the region in 18 years.
