CNN’s Erickson’s ‘Red State Uprising’ and Obama’s ‘Socialist Nanny State’
April 8, 2010
(ChattahBox)—-Inflammatory right-wing blogger Erick Erickson, CNN’s newest addition to the “best political team on television” recently threatened census workers, saying he would “Pull out my wife’s shotgun and see how that little ACS (Census’ American Community Survey) twerp likes being scared at the door.” Now, Erickson, plans to wield his wife’s shotgun once again, figuratively speaking, to wage a “Red State Uprising” in print to combat President Obama’s “socialist nanny state” and the “arrogant federal government.” Yes, his reckless vitriol has scored Erickson a book deal with the conservative publisher Regnery Press.
According to Amazon’s product description, “Red State Uprising: How to Take Back America” does not promote “anarchy or a revolution.” But Erickson certainly makes use of overheated right-wing rhetoric. “Barack Obama has shown his determination to move the country towards a socialist nanny state, culminating in the government takeover of health care,” reads the book’s description.
Erickson’s bio touts his role, as a “regular political commentator on CNN’s John King” and “top-tier radio.”
Listed as co-author is Lewis K. Uhler, founder of the National Tax Limitation Committee.
And to further prove his wingnuttery cred, “influential media personalities” are mentioned as Erickson devotees. Who might these “influential media personalities” be? Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity.
