Limbaugh: God ‘Replied’ to Healthcare Bill by Causing Volcanic Eruption in Iceland
April 16, 2010
(ChattahBox)—-Odious hate talker Rush Limbaugh is on a vitriolic and incendiary roll today. During his right-wing talk radio show, he said Obama is “finally fulfilling” the left’s “dream of doing away with NASA.” And he reserved time to attack Secretary of State Hilliary Clinton and former President Bill Clinton, claiming they were “out to destroy Western Civilization.” Oh and there was his ominous warning that the blame for a future terrorist attack rests “squarely on the shoulders of Bill Clinton and Barack Obama.”
Yes, all of the above statements are crazy, offensive and incendiary hate and fearmongering. But what caught my attention today, was Limbaugh’s channeling of televangelist Pat Robertson, when he claimed that God caused the volcanic eruption in Iceland, because he was angry over passage of the healthcare reform law. Apparently the leader of the Republican party has an evangelical streak. Who knew!
During the April 16 edition of his radio show, Limbaugh mocked Obama’s own mocking of the right-wing’s disingenuous claims of Armageddon if healthcare reform passed:
“You know, a couple days after the healthcare bill had been signed into law, Obama ran all over the country saying, hey the earth hasn’t opened up — no Armageddon out there — the birds are still chirping. I think the earth has opened up. God may have replied. This volcano in Iceland — airspace has been more affected than even after 9/11, because of the plume, because of this ash cloud over Northern and Western Europe.” [...]
“Earth has opened up. I don’t know whether it’s a rebirth or Armageddon— Hopefully it’s a rebirth — God speaking.”
