Neo-Nazi Group Dubs Cinco de Mayo ‘Report An Illegal Day’
May 4, 2010
(ChattahBox)—In the wake of the passage of the harsh Arizona anti-immigration law, essentially making it a crime to be brown-skinned, there’s now a more permissive environment for nativist groups to spread hate. And right on cue, the Phoenix-based National Socialist Movement, a neo-nazi white supremacist group is sponsoring “Report An Illegal” Day on the same day Cinco de Mayo is celebrated.
According to the group’s website, the National Socialist Movement believes in “defending the rights of white people everywhere,” and “promotion of white separation.” Membership is only open to “non-Semitic heterosexuals’ of European descent.”
The “Report An Illegal” Day is promoted on the group’s website, with a link to a flier asking supporters to make “25 copies or more and hand them out.” The flier is filled with hateful rhetoric about undocumented immigrants, claiming “More than 1 million rapists and pedophiles have entered this nation and are in no law enforcement data base.”
The handout encourages Arizona residents to “Turn in to DHS, ICE, and the IRS businesses that you suspect of hiring illegals.” The group’s vitriol also plays on racial fears:
“When Whites are outnumbered history shows that they have always been raped, murdered and massacred by the non Whites. If you can provide even one logical reason why this won’t occur here as well we want to hear from you. America must remain a White majority to remain America!!! Let’s give America a reason to celebrate!! Report an illegal Today!!!”
Local affiliate ABC15 reported on the appearance of the offensive fliers in the Phoenix area, noting that local Hispanic residents were angry the neo-nazi group co-opted their cultural Cinco de Mayo celebration. And residents are concerned for their safety.
The Phoenix police department is investigating the flier.
This is just the beginning.
