Geometry Teacher Demonstrates Angles to Assassinate Obama
May 18, 2010
(ChattahBox)— I have a feeling this story is not over. A high school geometry teacher in a rural county of Alabama used the example of assassinating President Obama to instruct his students on angles. His murderous teaching example made it to the local Secret Service office and the unnamed teacher was paid an official visit, but no charges were filed.
The male geometry teacher works at Corner High School in Jefferson County. The Secret Service agents did not find that the teacher posed a threat to the President and the matter was dropped without an arrest, according to a report by the Birmingham News.
“We did not find a credible threat,” Roy Sexton, of Birmingham’s Secret Service office, told the Birmingham News. “As far as the Secret Service is concerned, we looked into it, we talked to the gentleman and we have closed our investigation.”
An additional report, described the teacher instructing students where they needed to stand, to shoot President Obama:
“The teacher was apparently teaching his geometry students about parallel lines and angles, officials said. He used the example of where to stand and aim if shooting Obama. “He was talking about angles and said, ‘If you’re in this building, you would need to take this angle to shoot the president,’ “ said Joseph Brown, a senior in the geometry class.”
Apparently, talk of shooting the President of the United States, is not worthy of a suspension in Alabama. The geometry teacher in question, is still at work in the classroom and will not be disciplined.
Superintendent Phil Hammonds, said he planned to give the teacher a stern talking to. We are going to have a long conversation with him about what’s appropriate,” “It was extremely poor judgment on his part, and a poor choice of words,” said Hammonds.
Hmm, call me crazy but if a teacher makes a threat towards the President of the United States in a classroom, which necessitates a visit from the Secret Service, I would think disciplinary action is in order.
