Radical Cleric al-Awlaki Makes Threats, Warns Of More American Deaths Again
May 23, 2010
(ChattahBox) – U.S. born radical Muslim cleric Anwar al-Awlaki has released a new video, accusing U.S. and allied troops of deliberately killing women and children in Iraq and Afghanistan, and promising more attacks.
According to al-Awlaki, the United States have specifically been killing off women and children in attacks meant to take down civilians in the two countries. Avoiding, as always, the fact that al-Qaeda regularly orders and carries out suicide bombs and car bombings near schools and in populated areas like mosques and marketplaces where women and children are in abundance.
He also claimed that more attacks are imminent, and that they will continue to kill Westerners as long as we are ‘transgressing’ against them.
“Oh, America, if you transgress against us, we will transgress against you, and you keep killing our people, we will kill your people. This is the image that we need to present. These American soldiers heading to Afghanistan and Iraq will be killed. We will kill them if we can, there in Fort Hood, or we will kill them in Afghanistan and Iraq.”
It is similar to the voice recording released in March, where someone claiming to be Osama bin Laden warned that they would “begin killing Americans” if Khalid Sheik Mohammad was executed.
Authorities pointed out the ludicrously of the statement, saying that they already kill Americans, will always try to kill more Americans, and that claiming they will “begin” or do so more often unless they back off of a decision is insane.
The same principle is at work with al-Awlaki.
Radicals bent on the destruction of the West are going to continue on that mission because they are extremists. Based on that very notion, there is no rationality behind the hatred; it is all consuming, and it carries them forward on their mission of destruction.
Any time an extremist claims that they will do something if you don’t follow by their command, it can more or less be assumed that they would do it anyway.
Further attempted attacks are going to continue on American soil, and we will continue to do our best to foil those efforts. Continued attacks are going to continue in Iraq and Afghanistan, but we will continue to try to foil those as well.
As for accusing the U.S. of deliberately killing women and children: how often do militants kill women and children in Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Iraq? Attacks are occurring several times a week, killing dozens of civilians each time, but rarely taking a soldiers life in comparison. This tells precisely what they are willing to do, and the lack of care for human life they hold.
So, exactly what was the point of this newest message? They will continue doing what they are doing. But so will we.
