McCain Calls JD Hayworth Dumbest Candidate Ever (Video)
May 25, 2010
(ChattahBox)—Now this is entertainment! The Republican primary battle in Arizona between Sen. John McCain and teapartier and former Congressman JD Hayworth is providing some comical political theater. McCain, as he fights for his political life, is moving as far to the right as possible without being declared legally insane, while Hayworth, a birther conspiracy theorist and nativist Xenophobe, entertains with his conspicuous lack of intelligence. And McCain’s campaign is right on top of Hayworth’s latest gaffe with a new web ad, calling Hayworth a fool and one of the dumbest members of Congress. Ouch!
What did Hayworth say? He said that the United States had never formally declared war on Germany, during World War II. Of course this is wrong. Congress approved a declaration of war against Germany on Dec. 11, 1941, four days after Pearl Harbor.
McCain’s new web ad taunts Hayworth with his gaffe, in an old black and white newsreel style, entitled “The history of WW II according to JD Hayworth.” The end of the spot makes note of the fact that while serving in Congress, Hayworth was voted as one of the dumbest members of Congress.
