Elizabeth Edwards Doesn’t Want John to Get Kids After She Dies

(ChattahBox)—More drama from John and Elizabeth Edwards. According to a report by the New York Daily News, the estranged wife of disgraced former U.S. Sen. and presidential hopeful, John Edwards is taking steps to deprive her husband of custody of their two minor children, after her death. Elizabeth Edwards is said to be intent on ensuring that her husband’s mistress Rielle Hunter not raise her children, daughter Emma, 12, and son Jack, 10, as their stepmom.
John Edwards also has a daughter with Hunter, Quinn, who is now two-years-old. Elizabeth plans to divorce John, as soon as the legal waiting period is over. But she is suffering from an incurable form of breast cancer and apparently is making plans for guardianship of her children, perhaps tapping her 28-year-old daughter Cate to raise her siblings:
“Hard as it is to face the worst-case scenario, Elizabeth “has been grooming Cate to take over,” says a source. Another source says Elizabeth has been forced to confront the question of guardianship because her health has “taken a turn for the worse lately.”‘
But it’s doubtful Elizabeth could legally deprive John Edwards, as the children’s surviving parent, from gaining custody.
