Al Gore and Tipper to Divorce, After 40-Year Marriage

June 1, 2010

(ChattahBox)—Former Vice President Al Gore and his wife Tipper announced they are divorcing, after 40-years of marriage. In an email sent to friends, the Gores said their decision to separate was a “mutual” decision and the couple asked for privacy.

Politico obtained a copy of the email confirming the long-time Washington couple’s decision to split:

“We are announcing today that after a great deal of thought and discussion, we have decided to separate.”

“This is very much a mutual and mutually supportive decision that we have made together following a process of long and careful consideration. We ask for respect for our privacy and that of our family, and we do not intend to comment further.”

Al and Tipper Gore are best remembered for their long and steamy kiss on the stage of the 2000 Democratic presidential convention,
