Morning Joe on GOP Hysteria: ‘How Many Times can Freedom Die?’
June 17, 2010
(ChattahBox)—-MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” Host, Joe Scarborough ridiculed the Republicans for their attacks on President Obama’s success in securing $20 billion from BP for an escrow fund to handle Gulf disaster claims. He pointed out that the constant drumbeat of GOP criticism of Obama, no matter what he does, destroys their credibility. The former Republican congressman, mocked the constant Republican hysteria of “it’s the end of freedom as we know it.” Scarborough asked: “How many times can freedom die?”
Scarborough noted the divisiveness in the current political debate on the Gulf oil disaster and the BP escrow fund.
“People on the far left say it isn’t enough, people on the far right say, “it’s the end of freedom as we know it.”
“At this point, I just don’t know what this president could do that any Republican leader would salute,” added Scarborough.
When co-host Willie Geist brought up Rep. Michele Bachmann’s (R-MN) charge that the escrow account was a socialist “redistribution-of-wealth fund,” the panel laughed at her over-the-top rhetoric. “That’s just ridiculous,” said co-host Mika Brzezinski.
Note to the GOP: When members of your own party start laughing at your incendiary rhetoric and clownish antics, maybe it’s time to start acting like grownups.
