Ethan Stacy’s Mother Petitions For Marriage Annulment, Claims Force
June 26, 2010
Utah (ChattahBox) – Stephanie Sloop, who is suspected of helping her new husband abuse, murder, and mutilate her 4-year-old son before hiding the body, is asking to have her marriage to Nathan Sloop annulled.
In the petition according to the Salt Lake Tribune, she claims that Nathan Sloop forced her into the marriage, which occurred in Utah on May 6th. However, there are no details as to how it is he coerced her into the wedding.
The two had been engaged for months, and were scheduled to have a wedding on July 4. But on May 5th, her brother received an email from the bride, who said they would be getting married the next day in order to get public aid.
They are believed to have left 4-year-old Ethan Stacy, already having suffered abuse, locked all day in a room as they went and married at a courthouse.
She then created a website about the event, which spoke about how happy and in love they were.
She is asking the marriage to be annulled, and to return to one of her former surnames.
She is also asking that possessions belonging to herself in the Layton apartment where her son was killed be returned to her, and that Nathan Sloop be responsible for debts accumulated during their short nuptials.
The Sloops have been charged with aggravated murder, abuse, child abuse, and other offenses related to the death of Ethan. Prosecutors have not announced if they will be seeking the death penalty.
