Texas Mayor Murders Daughter, Commits Suicide
July 14, 2010
CNN (ChattahBox) – Coppell, Texas Mayor Jayne Peters was found dead in her home, and police say she killed her 19-year-old daughter, before committing suicide, CNN reports.
The tragedy appeared to be well thought out, as four notes were found with information on how to take care of family affairs, how to care for pets, and even a note on the front door with a key that warned police they would find something horrifying when they stepped into the house.
Corinne, the teenage daughter, was found with a gunshot wound to the neck and head, and Peters were a bullet wound to the head, but the reasons behind the murder-suicide have not been released, nor are police saying if they have established a motive.
The notes did not appear to give a reason for the murder.
“Because we do not have all the facts and the investigation is not complete, we cannot release any additional information,” Deputy Chief Steve Thomas was quoted as saying.
The intense thought behind the crime and suicide are some of the most shocking details of the case, with such specific instructions showing a great deal of forethought to the act.
Our condolences to the family and friends of Corinne, who have been affected by this tragedy.
