Kidnapped Girl From California Found In Arizona After 7 Years
July 16, 2010
(ChattahBox) – Seven years ago, a 1 year-old Amber Nicklas was kidnapped in 2003 from a Los Angeles restaurant. Now 7 tuning 8 this month, the girl was found last Wednesday night in a northern Phoenix home in Arizona. Officials said that an Arizona couple apparently acquaintances of her family, took care of the girl but kept her from school to cover her from the authorities. The girl is in good health but was very emotional about being taken away from the home she has known. Phoenix police Sgt. Trent Crump said: “This girl was taken away from the only parents and family that she knows yesterday, it was very traumatizing to the girl.” Investigators found out that the girl could not read as she was kept away from school. It is also believed that the Arizona couple tries to hide Amber by changing her name and birth date. The circumstances of her kidnapping are still not completely known. Amber was abducted during an organized visit with her biological mother and her foster parents at a fast food restaurant. Two of her teenage aunts distracted the foster parents while a third escaped with the little girl. Two of the aunts were arrested soon afterwards, but the third was never found. The girl remains in protective custody of the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services and is still unknown where she would go next and if she would be brought back to her foster parents, the people she was upset to leave and thought of as they were her real parents.
