Palin’s ‘Idiotic’ Bush Tax Cuts Hand-Prompter ‘All Wet’ (Video)
August 1, 2010
(ChattahBox)—Sarah Palin, the embarrassingly fact-challenged half-term governor, appeared on Fox News Sunday with Chris Wallace, in what was ridiculously billed as an “exclusive” interview. How can her appearance on a cable network that she works for, be called an exclusive? But putting that aside, Palin used the chunk of generous air time to rattle off false GOP talking points about extending the Bush tax cuts. And hilariously, she scribbled $3.8 trillion on her hand-prompter; a figure she claims represents the “largest tax increase in U.S. history,” resulting from the expiration of the Bush tax cuts. Palin joked she wrote the number on her hand, so she wouldn’t “get dinged by the liberals saying I didn’t know what I was talking about.” Well, she still got it wrong. Sarah Barracuda, you have been officially dinged!
As noted by Think Progress, “according to the Pew Economic Policy Group, an extension of all of the Bush tax cuts will cost $3.1 trillion over ten years, once the costs of servicing the debt are factored in. But no one has proposed allowing them all to expire, and it’s incredibly disingenuous of Republicans to claim otherwise, especially since it was a budget gimmick by former President George W. Bush to include the ten-year sunset at all.”
The Obama administration is only proposing to allow the tax cuts for the wealthiest two percent of Americans to expire, while keeping the tax cuts for the middle class in place.
When asked about adding to the deficit, Palin conveniently ignored Wallace’s question and repeated the “largest tax increase in U.S. history” falsehood, while she read false Republican talking points from a sheet of paper.
Thing Progress adds, “Extending just the cuts for the wealthiest two percent of Americans will cost $830 billion over ten years.”
Palin went on to attack the Obama administration, as “all wet” and “idiotic” for their plans to roll back the tax rates on the richest Americans to pre-Bush levels. Palin is the one that is “all wet” on her facts, as well as disingenuous in suggesting that President Obama has ever proposed the repeal of Bush tax cuts for the middle class.
And the “idiotic” part: just look at the crib notes on this woman’s hands for crying out loud.
