Harry Reid: Angle’s ‘2nd Amendment Remedies’ Rhetoric ‘Way Over the Line’ (Video)

August 12, 2010

(ChattahBox)—Sen. Harry Reid (D-NV) released a campaign ad attacking his extremist tea party opponent, Sharron Angle, for her violent and irresponsible rhetoric calling for an armed insurrection against the government. The ad features a Republican law enforcement official slamming Angle for her “Second Amendment remedies” talk as “dangerous and way too extreme.”

As part of the “Over the Line” launch, Reid’s campaign website released a statement, attacking Angle’s incendiary call to arms, as well as linking to the many instances she spewed such rhetoric, to make the point that her “Second Amendment remedies” talk is not a one-time gaffe:

“The Reid campaign today released a new television ad highlighting the reckless, irresponsible comments of Sharron Angle threatening that those distraught by government may be forced to resort to “2nd Amendment remedies” if they’re unsatisfied with November’s election results. Angle’s comments have been widely panned by commentators of all political stripes, and were called “Far Over the Line” by the New York Times.”

“The most terrifying thing about Sharron Angle’s extreme rhetoric legitimizing violence as a political remedy is that it’s not a gaffe – it a core belief of Angle’s that has been expressed without reservation or regard for its potential consequences,” said Reid’s campaign spokesperson Kelly Steele.

The effective ad shows Bill Ames, President of the Peace Officers Research Association of Nevada condemning Angle for her dangerous extremism:

AMES: “I’ve been in Nevada law enforcement for 17 years, carrying a gun isn’t just a part of my job, it’s a Constitutional right that I believe in. But Sharron Angle goes way over the line when she keeps saying:”

ANGLE: “If this Congress keeps going the way it is, people are really looking towards those 2nd Amendment remedies.”

AMES: “It’s crazy. But what she’s actually talking about is armed resistance. Look, I’m a member of the NRA and a Republican, but that kind of talk is dangerous and way too extreme.”

And now Angle’s call for violence has resulted in the shooting of a US Congresswoman, and the murder of 6 others, including a 9 year old child.

May she burn in Hell for eternity for this!
