GOPer Gohmert Goes Ballistic on CNN When Pressed on ‘Terror Babies’ Nonsense (Video)
August 13, 2010
(ChattahBox)—Terror babies, lies and Anderson Cooper. CNN Cooper’s dogged journalistic instincts have led him to a place where no man, beast or Fox News dares to tread: inside the deepest recesses of the bigoted, conspiratorial mind of a right-wing Republican, desperate to stoke fear and racial animus when discussing the issue of illegal immigration in our country. And crazy as a hoot owl, Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-TX), who once argued that expanding the Hate Crimes Act would lead to widespread necrophilia, pedophilia and bestiality, is the owner of the bigoted right-wing mind that Cooper exposed, and opened up like a smelly can of rotten sardines last night. Gohmert was asked to provide proof of his ridiculous claim of a nefarious international terrorist plot, wherein pregnant foreign women give birth in the U.S. to “terror babies.” These “terror babies” are then brought up on the mother’s milk of al-Qaeda jihadism, in preparation for their return, 20 or 30-years later to destroy America. Sounds like nonsense, right? Well, it is.
Since, Gohmert made-up the “terror babies” tale, he was unable to offer evidence to back up his scary story, so he began to rant about illegal immigrants having babies, as Cooper continued to press him for facts. Gohmert basically experienced a complete meltdown on national TV. Cooper didn’t really have to expend much effort in taking down the clownish Texas lawmaker. Gohmert did that all by himself. Anderson just very adeptly and professionally, provided Gohmert with a sufficient amount of rope.
To bring you up to speed, Gohmert first told his made-up “terror babies” story on the floor of the House. He first, said the story was told to him by a “a retired FBI agent.” But he later changed his story, as coming from “a lady on a plane.”
And surprise, surprise, another lawmaker from Texas, state Rep. Debbie Riddle, (R-Tomball) appeared on CNN Wednesday evening to spread Gohmert’s “terror babies” tale. And, coincidence? She also heard the story from “a retired FBI agent,” whom she couldn’t name.
When Cooper pressed Gohmert to provide the name of his own ex-FBI agent, he responded “I promised him I would not reveal his name.” Haha, when Cooper quipped, “Well, that’s convenient,” Gohmert literally lost his mind, and he began ranting about 9/11 mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and the fall of the Twin Towers.
After Riddle’s bizarre appearance, Cooper brought on a REAL live, actual retired FBI agent, who said the “terror babies” story was absurd and patently ridiculous.
This is all very entertaining, but on a more serious note, lawmakers like Gohmert and Riddle are dangerous. They use their offices to stoke fear, by spreading false stories and wild conspiracy theories for political gain. The uneducated and gullible citizens of our country believe their nonsense, because an elected official said it.
But as many of us know, there are credible elected officials and then there are lawmakers like Louie Gohmert and Debbie Riddle.
