Neo-Nazi Blogger Hal Turner Convicted of Judge Death Threats

(ChattahBox)–The third time is the charm. After two mistrials with deadlocked juries, Hal Turner, neo-Nazi blogger and Internet radio host, was convicted on Friday of making death threats against three Chicago-based federal judges. Turner posted the ominous threats, after becoming enraged over a ruling banning handguns. The case against Turner was complicated by his role as an undercover FBI informant, in the white supremacist and neo-Nazi community. But in the end, a jury of his peers convicted Turner for threatening the lives of federal judges.
Patrick J.Fitzgerald, U.S. attorney for the Northern District of Illinois said in a statement, “There is no place in society for threatening federal judges with violence. Period. We are grateful that the jury saw these threats for what they were and rejected any notion that they were acceptable speech.”
As previously reported by ChattahBox, Turner was arrested last year for threatening to murder the Chicago, Illinois judges Frank Easterbrook, Richard Posner and William Bauer:
“Let me be the first to say this plainly: These Judges deserve to be killed,” said Turner in one of his more threatening postings. “Apparently, the 7th U.S. Circuit court didn’t get the hint after those killings, it appears another lesson is needed.” Turner was referring the murders of a Chicago judge and family members, solicited by white supremacist, Matt Hale.
“In addition to the death threats, Turner published the judges’ photographs, work addresses, telephone numbers, room numbers and a photo of the building where they worked.”
Turner faces a maximum prison sentence of up to 10 years and a $250,000 fine.
