Boston’s “Craigslist Killer” Commits Suicide
August 15, 2010
(Chattahbox) – The Boston University medical student who allegedly used Craigslist to murder a masseuse and attack and rob two other women has committed suicide, according to ABC.
Phillip Markoff was arrested on April 20th, 2009, and has been waiting to face trial at the Nashua Street Jail in Massachusetts, on a slew of charges stemming from the murder of masseuse Julissa Brisman, an aspiring drug counselor from New York City who was shot dead in her room at the Marriot Copley Place Hotel on April 14, 2009. When he didn’t show up for breakfast or morning activities on Sunday, law enforcement members went to check on him and found him dead. Inside sources say he slit his wrists and tied something tightly around his throat on Saturday night.
The infamous “Craigslist Killer” apparently went on a crime and gambling rampage between at least April 2nd and 16th in 2009. The three women he attacked during that time had all posted advertisements on Craigslist offering erotic encounters.
Although Markoff’s fiancée originally stood by him, she ultimately broke things off, which resulted in one of his two previous suicide attempts. Saturday would have been their one year wedding anniversary.
