Poll: 59 Percent of Americans Say Palin Would Suck as President
August 30, 2010
(ChattahBox)—Nearly 60 percent of all Americans believe the former half-term governor of Alaska Sarah Palin, lacks the abilities needed to make an effective president, according to a new poll. These results come on the heels of Palin’s increasing public profile, as she becomes involved in national elections, combined with her constant nonsensical Facebook and Twitter missives, in which she weighs in on the issues of the day. Palin recently encouraged Dr Laura Schlessinger to “reload” her racist on air rant, in which she bullied a black caller and screeched the N-word 11 times.
The poll, conducted by 60 Minutes/Vanity Fair, earlier in the month, found that 59 percent of all those polled believe Palin is not qualified to be president of the United States, with 26 percent saying she is.
Among Democrats and Independents, the numbers are larger, with 75 percent of Democrats saying she is unqualified and 63 percent of Independents.
Among Republicans and conservatives, the numbers are quite different of course, but still, a majority of her base does not believe she would make an effective president. Forty-seven percent of Republicans thinks she would, while only 41 percent of conservatives think so.
But the number of Americans believing Palin is not qualified to be president, seems to have shrunk. According to a Washington Post-ABC poll conducted in February, 70 percent answered Palin was not qualified, which was up from 60 percent in a November survey.
What does this all mean? Palin remains a deeply divisive figure in American politics and that’s not about to change.
